Evolution – probably one of the most useful concepts to make sense of the world, but perhaps one of the most misunderstood one too.My knowledge about evolution was limited to – all species evolved from a single species long time ago and that monkeys are our ancestors (which infact is wrong, we have common ancestors). Recently read The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins which reignited my interest to know more about evolution. The book itself is a must read for anyone trying to make sense of anything. The book was written in 1976, but the information presented seemed very contemporary. Although, Richard is more interested in presenting an argument for a Gene-centric view of evolution in contrast to a group centric view, the book explains a lot of basic evolutionary concepts and is laced with several interesting anecdotes about various lifeforms on earth. Respect.
